The People's Amendment

We agree on more than we realize.

The problem is not us.
It is that we have no way to act on what we agree on.
This amendment gives us that option.

Congress ignores what it's not in their interest to change.

Some things Congress will never change. Not because the people disagree, but because it benefits Congress not to. There is no pathway for us to act when they won't. Shouldn't we have something?

How this Amendment Gives People a Say

In 250 years, no American has voted directly on a law or amendment. This amendment creates a process so when people agree, change can happen. Here's how it works:

1

Enough Americans sign a petition on a topic

Verified real people, across the country, on something we actually agree on. No party required.

2

150 citizens are randomly selected from voter rolls

Not politicians. Not lobbyists. Ordinary Americans, 3 from every state, who read, deliberate, debate, and vote on it.

3

Every American votes on it

If voters in 3/5ths of states ratify it, it becomes a constitutional amendment. No Congress required. No politician's permission needed.

"Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed."
Declaration of Independence, 1776

The duty of the People.
The institution doesn't fix itself.

Every right we have, the people demanded it. It was never the institution. It was always the people. That is how this country works when it works. That is our job.
